Here we Grow again!

The St. Margaret’s Bay Marine Search and Rescue Society is kicking off a new chapter for our dedicated volunteers.  We are looking to a future of growing our membership and providing further community support to ensure St. Margaret’s Bay remains a safe boating haven for all to enjoy.

2024 was an incredible year for the Society.  The boating season launched with us in the action at Sail GP, supporting their team making the event a success.  End of June brought about our inaugural Annual Poker Run.  We are still hearing about how much people enjoyed the day on the water followed by an evening of entertainment and great food.  We are looking forward to hosting the event for many years to come.

Sadly 2024 also brought some bumps.   We had some resignations, and we were unable to reach an agreement for the continued use of our vessel, Angel Six.  Fortunately 2025 is starting on the right foot.   We have gained new members and are working hard to restructure our organization with a focus on independence and exceptional service to our community.

This does mean we are calling on our community members to help us reach our goals.  Our fundraising campaign is underway with a goal of raising $500,000.00.  Although we are part of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary-Maritime, we are responsible for owning our vessel and operating costs outside of duties for the coast guard. This campaign will provide the funding for a new vessel, operating costs as well as replacing the AIS service for the Bay.

If you are interested in helping us rebuild, there are many ways to do so.    Volunteers are always welcome.  If you or someone you know has a passion for marine safety, or complete this form and send it to smbmsar@outlook.com. Follow our social accounts  for details about our 2025 events.
